The Revelle Award honors C-3 founders and San Diego visionaries Ellen and Roger Revelle, and is given to recognize the dedication and achievements of civic leaders in the San Diego area.

First Revelle Award    1983
Ellen and Roger Revelle
Among the founders of C-3; internationally known oceanographer and initiator of UCSD campus.

2nd Revelle Award    1984
Samuel Hamill
Designer of the City/County Administration Building, and 1935 remodel of House of Hospitality in Balboa Park.

3rd Revelle Award    1986
Neil & Judith Morgan
Authors and columnists about California and San Diego; for their long-time interest in planning and the environment.

4th Revelle Award    1987
Ernest Hahn
For innovative planning of Horton Plaza and revitalization of Downtown San Diego.

5th Revelle Award    1988
Emily Durbin
Environmentalist and habitat preservationist, her active efforts succeeded in preserving Pamo Valley and the Santa Margarita River.

6th Revelle Award    1989

James Hubbell
Artist, sculptor, architect, and environmentalist; early C-3 member and founder of Ilan Lael Foundation.

7th Revelle Award    1990
The Marston Family
For their long-term interest and involvement in urban planning and park development; and for funding for "Temporary Paradise?" study and publication.

8th Revelle Award    1991
Max Schmidt
For long-term dedication to urban planning and Downtown San Diego redevelopment.

9th Revelle Award    1993

Michael Stepner
For long-term dedication to planning and design, and Downtown redevelopment and historic preservation in the Gaslamp Quarter.

10th Revelle Award    1994
Don Wood
Ardent advocate for Bayfront public access/open space/environmental and historical preservation, he led C-3's fundraising to relight the County Administration Building.

11th Revelle Award    1995
Lucy Killea
Long-time C-3 member and elected representative to the City Council, County Board, State Assembly and Senate; for long active support of education, binational cooperation, and environmental issues.

12th Revelle Award    1998
Walter Munk
Distinguished geophysics professor, Scripps Institution of Oceanography; C-3 supporter since early 1960s.

13th Revelle Award    1999
Clare Crane
Historian, teacher and publisher of numerous historical works on San Diego; C-3 member since 1960s, served as President and Board member.

14th Revelle Award    2000
Philip Pryde
Geographer, San Diego State University, for long-time citizen advocacy on water issues, open space and wetlands preservation.

15th Revelle Award    2001
City Heights Urban Village redevelopment project
Accepted by William Jones, President & CEO, City Link.

16th Revelle Award    2002
Philip Unitt
Biologist and ornithologist, San Diego Museum of Natural History, and creator of the San Diego Bird Atlas, a comprehensive census of birds in SD County.

17th Revelle Award    2003
Ramona Salisbury Kiltz
For decades of service on regional issues through the League of Women Voters, the San Dieguito River Valley Land Conservancy, and as a SANDAG Observer.

18th Revelle Award    2004

David B. Kreitzer
San Diego County Planning Commissioner; for advocacy of regional environmental issues, open space and managed growth.
